LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
wenty years after "Urban Cowboy" was made, the gargantuan Pasadena, Texas, nightclub in which most of the movie was filmed -- Gilley's -- is enjoying a bit of a renaissance.
Kris Kristofferson recently re-recorded some of his best-known songs and titled the collection "The Austin Sessions." He talks about the record, and his life, with the Austin Chronicle.
Despite her birth in New Orleans, a childhood in Mississippi, and most of the rest of her life in Nashville, Kate Campbell was told her songs weren't "country."
Plus, the return of Wilson Pickett, a new album from Mahavishnu Orchestra, hip-hop gets political again, and more.
