LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
et my people go--to the movies! That's what DreamWorks honcho
and former Mouseketeer Jeffrey Katzenberg tells Austin Chronicle's
Marc Savlov in "Walk Like an Egyptian." Brenda Chapman
discusses what it's like to direct Val Kilmer as the voice
of Moses with Memphis Flyer's Susan Ellis. And Austin
Chronicle's Marjorie Baumgarten says that while "Prince of
Egypt" is "genuinely thrilling," it raises serious
questions about the goals of today's animation wizards.
When it comes to winter schmaltz, Nashville Scene-ster
Noel Murray finds "Patch Adams" and "Jack Frost"
to be exercises in "Cold Calculation," while in "Save
the Fathers," the Scene's Walter Jowers senses a sinister
attack on daddies everywhere in Michael Keaton's snowman tour
de farce. Austin Chronicle's Marc Savlov doesn't look for
a snowdrift of meaning in "Jack Frost," he simply takes
a blowtorch to it.
Video & TV boldly checks out the previous eight "Star
Trek" movies, various filmed versions of "A Christmas
Carol," and old favorites "Risky Business" and
"Prince of Darkness."
