A Bizarre Day in the Life of a Weekly Wire Employee:

(This story actually happened last week to one of our employees and is just too creepy not to pass it on.)

Cheryl, our Marketing Director, returned home from running some errands to find her German Shepherd choking and unable to breathe. She rushed the dog to the vet's office but he was so busy he told her to leave the dog for observation. When she returned home, her telephone was ringing; the vet was on the other end and spoke in a calm but firm tone: "Set down the receiver and run out of your house immediately. Go to a neighbor's house. I'll be right there." Puzzled, and a bit frightened, she followed his instructions.

Minutes later, four police cars arrived, and hiding in the bedroom closet of her house the officers found a large, menacing burglar who was bleeding to death and terrified. The veterinarian arrived on the scene and explained to the homeowner that when he examined her dog to determine the cause of the choking, he had found three human fingers lodged in the dog's throat. He called the police and then called her.

Cheryl's doing fine now but is still pretty shaken up by the whole thing.

A Bizarre Day in the Life of a Weekly Wire Employee:

(This story actually happened last week to one of our employees and is just too embarassing not to pass it on.)

One of our programmers bought a cup of coffee and a pack of cookies at a crowded coffee house. He sat down at the same table as a teenage boy, drank his coffee and started eating the cookies. The teenager helped himself to one. Somewhat taken aback, our programmer took another. The uninvited companion did the same and these actions continued until only the last biscuit was left which the teenager broke in two so it could be shared. At this point, our programmer let loose a string of obscenities and left the coffee house in a huff. Out in the parking lot, he found his pack of cookies, still unopened in his pocket.

A Bizarre Story

I heard this from my cousin's best friend's sister. She knew a little girl named Stephanie whose parents often went out of town and left her alone at the house. The parents felt this was okay not only because Stephanie was quite responsible but also because they had a guard dog that was very, very good. Whenever little Stephanie felt scared in bed at night, she would let her arm dangle over the side to feel the dog reassuringly lick her hand. Then she knew she was safe.

One day the parents went out of town for the weekend, and just as they were leaving they reminded Stephanie to lock all the windows and doors in the house. Stephanie thought she had locked everything, but she forgot one window in the basement. Late at the night, Stephanie woke up terrified after hearing a noise in the house. Realizing the forgotten window, she sprinted downstairs and locked it. Upon returning to her dark bedroom, Stephanie leapt into bed, dangled her arm over the side, and the warm sensation of her hand being licked made her feel safe and secure and Stephanie quickly fell back asleep.

The next morning, when Stephanie woke up and went to take a shower, she discovered the horrifying sight of her dog's dead body in the bathtub. Blood was everywhere; evidently the dog's throat had been slit. Stephanie ran to a neighbor's house and they called the police. Later, when investigators searched the house for an intruder, the only thing they found were some footprints outside the basement window, a crowbar, and a note at the foot of the bed that read: "Humans can lick too, you know."
